This Week in Death: Callen Butcher, FREEDOMS, Krule & DMDU

Callen Butcher Announces Wrestling Departure

Much like last week, we begin with another departure from the Deathmatch scene. Deathmatch Downunder’s Callen Butcher announced on February 23rd that he would be stepping away from professional wrestling effective immediately. This announcement comes ahead of the start of his first ever tour of the United States that was to happen from March 15th through April 12th. The reasons cited include both mental and physical health conditions, as well as moving on to “…begin [his] future with [his] family.”

Though he may be stepping away ahead, he still has a hell of a lot to be proud of. Callen simultaneously won Australia’s first ever Deathmatch Tournament (DMDU’s D.R.E.A.M.) and became the first ever DMDU World Deathmatch Champion. He also got the chance to step into The Chains and The Pit on ICW No Holds Barred’s first international tour. And on a related personal note, I was admittedly most excited to finally see Callen wrestle live during that same tour. Top Rope Writing thanks Callen for his contributions to Deathmatch Wrestling; and I hope that it’s not goodbye forever, it’s just goodbye for now.
