As much as I do enjoy the innocuity of Professional Wrestling, sometimes I need a little more spice to what I watch. Enter Interspecies Wrestling. Having really gotten into them during the early months of The Pandemic, Interspecies Wrestling (stylized to ISDub) brings everything I love about Professional Wrestling into one place. They bring the chaos and violence of Deathmatch Wrestling with a lot of fantastic talents and LEGOs to top it all off. And they also bring a special brand of absurdity to the wrestling ring. I’m talking about food fights, wrestling zombies and perverted tigers (oh my!) just to name a few examples. So when ISDub announced that Boner Jam V was going to take place in East Haven, Connecticut, I wanted to find my way there. And despite cutting timing close with another engagement, I would find myself at The Beeracks in East Haven to watch the brand of wrestling that is ISDub.
The Beeracks in East Haven, Connecticut proved to be a fantastic venue. Being a brewery, there was plenty of beers on tap. Despite the fact that I am in no way, shape or form a beer guy by any means, I managed to enjoy a couple sours. Alcohol intake aside, there was a certain edge to the brewery set up that really drew me in from an aesthetics point of view. While the wrestling was in the immediate foreground, the background beyond the thin black curtain housed all the brewing equipment. All of this amid the bare and rustic brew room scenery made for a very industrial-esque venue.

Starting the show for the ritzy snoots like myself (aka the VIP ticket holders) was a Bonus Match between Alex Maze and Angelo Carter. This was a fun back and forth matchup between two names I had never seen before. Maze had quite the athletic offense with a couple Handsprings and Cartwheels mixed in with some solid fundamentals. Angelo played it fairly arrogantly and even quite dirty in some regards. Carter would come out with the victory and with this match, both competitors were certainly on my radar. A solid one-on-one matchup to warm the crowd up for the night to come.
After letting “the Poors” in, out to the ring came ISDub’s locker room, as well as the reigning ISDub Undisputed King of Crazy, Terra Calaway. Terra Calaway would come out well before her scheduled title defense on less than ceremonial circumstances. She would announce the vacation of her title, as well as the indefinite end to her wrestling career. Amid the “Thank you, Terra” chants, she confirmed that there would be a new Undisputed King of Crazy crowned in the Main Event. Terra’s original opponent, Cecil Nyx, would now face both Conor Claxton and Razerwyng in a Triple Threat Deathmatch with the title on the line. And with that sad news aside, the show proper would begin.
ISW Falls Count Anywhere Championship: Jeff Cannonball (c) vs Brian Milonas
The Main Card kicked off with an ISDub Falls Count Anywhere Championship Match between two human wrecking balls (one coincidentally sharing the name). Former Ring of Honor star Brian Milonas would answer Jeff Cannonball’s challenge for something big for Boner Jam V. And something big this would be as these two behemoths would brawl across the ring and brewery floor. They’d share Chairshots, break bottles over each other and continuously club the Hell out of each other. Jeff would ultimately finish Brian by breaking a bottle over his head, making The Kingpin fall through a propped up door for the three count victory. This was a fun and fairly bloody affair with Jeff sporting a crimson mask for much of the match. Having never seen Milonas wrestle a match like this, I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing more of this style out of him. And of course, Jeff’s matches will always hit with me as he offer a great pallet of comedy and wrestling. Needless to say, this was a great way to start off the Main Card.
Dad Bod Squad (Thomas Leduc & Kyle Zachary) vs Bobby Orlando & Bobby Jr.
We follow up two big men wrestling each other with two big men teaming together against your mom and a stuffed goat. Bobby Orlando would take the upper hand on Dad Bod Squad in the opening moments. Though it was only a matter of time until Dad Bod Squad called in the goat. Once Bobby Jr. was brutalized in the ring and thrown from the match, it quickly devolved into a two-on-one shakedown.
After a while of Bobby Orlando being on the disadvantage, Bobby Jr. would reemerge to even the odds; albeit he passed a glaring resemblance to MACH-10. The two would get their payback on Dad Bod Squad; sending them packing with a Top Rope Elbow followed by a Frog Splash for the win. They took what could’ve been a highly silly matchup and turned it into something both silly yet really cool. Aside from Dad Bod Squad putting together some very cohesive Tag Team offense, I was left very impressed by “Bobby Jr.” and how athletic he suddenly was. Highly entertaining no doubt which has been the theme thus far. Though what would follow I could only describe as absolutely unreal.

Sean Henderson vs Giant Tiger
Going into Boner Jam V, Sean Henderson personally called out Giant Tiger for his Dream Match, not even knowing if Tiger would show up to fight. But lo and behold, the Interspecies Wrestling legend would make his presence known; bringing along threats of banging Sean’s mother. What would follow are some of the wildest moments I have ever seen in a wrestling match. Early on Sean nearly suffered a face full of Giant Tiger’s junk, but would later fully get a face full of bare ass. Giant Tiger attempted to hit Sean with Cody Rhodes’ Cross Rhodes but could not get the full extension of the move. Pants would come down during the match. Pants would be pulled up like Steve Urkel from Family Matters. All of this culminated in one of the most shocking swerves as Sean’s own mother betrayed her own son with a Low Blow to give Giant Tiger the win. Now, I always try to refrain from swearing as to be professional, but this is without a doubt the wildest fucking thing I have ever seen in person, wrestling or not. Never has a wrestling match ever made me laugh to the point of hunching over in physical tears. This may possibly be my favorite match that I have ever seen in person and I can only urge you to please do yourselves a favor and watch the absurdity for yourself.
Boner in the Bank Ladder Match: Sexxxy Eddy vs Dan Barry vs Kennedi Copeland vs Austin Luke vs Ryan Redfield vs Ron Voyage
After composing myself a little bit, the hilarity would roll on. Ron Voyage, Kennedi Copeland, Austin Luke, Ryan Redfield, Dan Barry, and Sexxxy Eddy would challenge each other for ten-thousand dollars in the finest boner pills that money could possibly buy. This match featured all the fun and chaotic moments you could ask for in a Ladder Match. The sextet of competitors would circle around one of the ladders in dance before Kennedi attempted to scale it; and then all Hell broke loose. Sexxxy Eddy would get stealthy and deliver several sneaky Low Blows from under the rungs. In retaliation, everyone would battering ram a ladder down low to Eddy, though Eddy would charge them back and deliver several different pelvic-based Ladder strikes. Kennedi would send Ron Voyage crashing down through a well placed ladder. Ultimately, Dan Barry would knock Eddy over and onto the ropes scrote first in order to take down the briefcase of enhancers and win Boner in the Bank. In victory, Dan Barry would share the wealth; giving everyone a taste of the boner pills as the show went into intermission. It was already half way into the show and I was already having a fantastic time. I laughed. I cried laughing. I saw some bloodshed. And the night was not yet over. There were still four more matches to go.
Fresh Air (Junior Benito & Macrae Martin) vs Wasted Youth (Marcus Mathers & Dyln McKay)
While being the match that followed Boner in the Bank was not going to be an easy task, these two teams were more than up for the challenge. Here we have two immensely talented young Tag Teams sharing the ring. Having been a fan of Macrae & Benito for a little while now, I was absolutely buzzing to finally see them do what they do best in person; and man, let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Fresh Air has an incredible mixture of cohesion and athleticism to their skillset as a duo. And there could not have been a better pairing to set them up against than Marcus Mathers & Dyln McKay: Wasted Youth. These two teams absolutely had the ISDub fateful in the palms of their hands with each aerial maneuver, Tag Team combo and near fall of the match. Ultimately it would be Wasted Youth picking up the victory with a high flying combo: a Shooting Star Press followed by a 450 Splash. After the bell, Macrae and Mathers seemed to have some unfinished business as they each carry a win over each other. Only time will tell when and where Round 3 comes. When it comes to the core wrestling of the show, this was most certainly my Match of the Night and yet another match I completely urge any reader to go watch. Bravo all around!
Logan Black vs Myung-Jae Lee
After seeing some Tag Team excellence, we would then see two men clubbing the Hell out of each other for their love of the TV show: Power Rangers. Logan Black, representing the Mighty Morphin era, would take on Myung-Jae Lee, repping the various series to follow (SPD, Turbo, Dino Thunder, etc.). The match was a very strike heavy affair with the action spilling all around the brewery floor and ring. Despite the Megazord sized challenge Logan Black brought to the match, Lee was able to hang in and strike back just as hard. Even after dedications to Aisha & Billy, Myung Jae-Lee would fight back and end the bout with a Double Stomp for a three count. It goes without saying, but Logan Black is one of the finest utility players a wrestling company could ask for; being able to excel no matter where on the card he is. And after finally seeing Myung Jae-Lee live, I can confirm that everything I said about him being one to watch this year was true.
Suge D vs Izzie Deadyet
With a card as wild and entertaining as Boner Jam V had been, having Suge D on the show was a cherry on top. He would go on to have a highly entertaining and physical bout with ISDub mainstay: Izzie Deadyet. This match had its fair share of silliness mixed in with the wrestling acumen you come to expect in a match with Suge D. Suge D would repeatedly run the ropes to try and knock Izzie down with Shoulder Blocks. He also locked Izzie in a Paradise Lock that would get the Milano Collection A.T. thumbs up approval. Izzie would even lock Suge into a kiss that left him questioning his feelings and desires towards zombies. Ultimately, it would come down to a trading of Pinfall attempts that Izzie Deadyet would win by reversing a Crucifix Pin. The duo would share one last kiss and with that they would return to the back. I have to say, it was nice to see Suge have some fun that didn’t involve torturing the officials of ACTION Wrestling. The two found a great way to mash up strong, physical wrestling with some lighthearted fun and that really made this one stand out amongst the other funny offerings of the night.
ISW Undisputed King of Crazy: Cecil Nyx vs Conor Claxton vs Razerwyng
Finally we came to the Main Event of the evening. One of these three individuals would walk away from Boner Jam V as the new Undisputed King of Crazy. Throughout this match, it seemed as though Conor Claxton had it out for his original opponent for the night: Razerwyng. In particular, Claxton took out Cecil Nyx later in the match just to slam Razerwyng into a pile of LEGOs. Razerwyng in the meantime showed that he was not afraid to get extreme; even skewering the head of Claxton and taking a dive off of a Ladder through a table. Cecil Nyx, while seemingly being the third wheel in Conor & Razerwyng’s business, was dead set on leaving with the title he was slated to compete for. Nyx dispatched Claxton with a Curbstomp onto a pile of thumbtacks and dropped him with a Modified Death Valley Driver for the victory and the ISDub King of Crazy belt. I was very impressed with how Razerwyng fared for his first ever Deathmatch; and in my opinion, this was the best possible entrance as he had both Claxton and Nyx to play off of. And I was just as excited to finally see both Nyx and Claxton live as I have watched them in various promotions over time. A great Main Event to cap off a great show!
All in all, this was probably the most fun that I have ever had in attending a wrestling show. Each of the night’s matches all brought something different to the table and everything felt so fun and fresh. Even if there was a core of comedy, you still had differing levels and genres of solid wrestling added to the mix. And even despite the comedy on display, you had matches that were still solid and great in the conventional wrestling sense. If you haven’t given this show a watch yet, it’s available on IWTV right now to watch any time. I myself am going to try and find a hypnotherapist to remove the burning memory of Giant Tiger’s bare ass from the ridges of my brain.
