This Week in Death: Tournament of Survival, FREEDOMS, DMDU, SCI, H2O & The Carousel Room

Ciclope & Matt Tremont Added to Tournament of Survival VIII

We are mere days away from Game Changer Wrestling’s Tournament of Survival VIII and the excitement is palpable. This year’s field of competitors is shaping up to being one of the best classes of entrants in the tournament’s history. On May 8th, GCW announced the eighth and seemingly final participant for Tournament of Survival: Ciclope. Ciclope is of course no stranger to Deathmatches as he has faced some of the best Deathmatch talent in the world both alone and alongside his Los Macizos partner, Miedo Extremo. He’s also racked up his share of gold as well; winning the GCW Tag Team Championships along Miedo, and being a former Zona 23 Extremo Champion. This is also not his first Tournament of Survival, let alone Deathmatch Tournament. Previously, Ciclope went all the way in 2018 to win TOS III; defeating his partner Miedo Extremo in the Finals. Can Ciclope go two-for-two in Tournament of Survival?

You may have noticed that I referred to Ciclope as “…seemingly [the] final participant” for this year’s tournament. And that’s because Tournament of Survival is traditionally an eight-person bracket. That notion got flipped on its head and neck as the very next day, GCW announced that there would be a ninth entrant into Tournament of Survival VIII: “The Bulldozer” Matt Tremont. Anyone who’s followed Matt’s career knows that he has won just about every notable Deathmatch Tournament. The only exception to this being Tournament of Survival. Both times he’s entered TOS, he has made it all the way to the Finals only to lose. Tremont has previously fallen to the likes of Nick Gage at TOS II, and against Drew Parker in TOS VII last year. This third time could very well prove to be the charm as he enters TOS VIII. While it is uncertain how many more entrants will enter this year’s Tournament of Survival, you can follow Game Changer Wrestling on Twitter for updates.
