Tournament of Survival Weekend

Rina Yamashita Wins Tournament of Survival VIII
Game Changer Wrestling presented Tournament of Survival VIII live from The Terminal in The Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. New Jersey on June 3rd. The tournament featured a packed field of contenders. From the King of FREEDOMS World Champion Tomoya Hirata, to American Deathmatch legend Matt Tremont, and even New Japan Pro Wrestling star El Desperado. Ultimately, Rina Yamashita would come out as the last person standing at the end of the night to win Tournament of Survival VIII. Rina Yamashita’s win at TOS VIII marks the first time a woman has ever won a Tournament of Survival in the tournament’s history. En-route to this historic milestone, Yamashita defeated Kasey Kirk & Sawyer Wreck in the Opening Round, Toru Sugiura in the Semi-Finals, and then John Wayne Murdoch in the Finals to win the trophy and opportunity at Masha Slamovich’s GCW World Championship the next night at Cage of Survival.
Jun Kasai Returns to America After Four Years
Following Rina Yamashita’s historic Tournament of Survival VIII victory, the unexpected would happen as Soul Meat (Tomoya Hirata & Toru Sugiura) would attack both Rina and her co-finalist John Wayne Murdoch as the trophy was presented. Suddenly, a masked man rushed down the aisle and seemingly stopped the onslaught before joining in with Toru & Hirata. The man would unmask to reveal that it was in fact Jun Kasai. The Deathmatch legend himself made his presence known with a Pear Harbor Splash on the downed Yamashita before the GCW locker room would come out to ward off the attackers. This appearance marked Kasai’s first appearance in a United States ring since 2019’s They Said It Couldn’t Be Done in the very same building. Whats to come of Kasai’s reemergence in Game Changer Wrestling is yet to be seen, but with GCW’s upcoming return to Japan, this battle is far from over.
Cage of Survival 2
Following Tournament of Survival VIII, the stage was set for a GCW Championship Super Fight. Masha Slamovich was set to defend her GCW World Championship against tournament winner Rina Yamashita in the Cage of Survival; this first time two women would compete in the Cage. In a match that saw the crushing of glass and both women take a dive off of a scaffold, it would be neither competitor walking out of Atlantic City with the GCW World Championship. Blake Christian would cash in his match opportunity to sweep in and win the GCW World Championship. In victory, Blake ends Masha’s reign on her eighth defense in 79 days as Champion.
