This Week in Death: Mick Foley, Ito & Kobayashi, Kasey Catal & ICWNHB

Seemingly out of nowhere, one sound byte has come to intrigue the fans of Deathmatch Wrestling. The “Hardcore Legend” Mick Foley on his own podcast: Foley is Pod, expressed interest in having one more match. But not just any kind of match: a Deathmatch. To paraphrase Mick Foley’s clip that has gone viral in the Deathmatch community, Mick Foley is looking to have one last match as his sixtieth birthday approaches, as well as to motivate himself to lose one-hundred pounds. Foley also expressed that this match would not be done with the WWE as this Deathmatch would be a “gory spectacle.”

Since this clip started making the rounds on Twitter, a number of names have been thrown around for people’s Dream Matches. One name I’ve seen is Matt Cardona, who’s previously taken a shot at Foley; wearing a “Fuck Mick Foley” patch on a sleeveless flannel akin to Foley’s. One of the more common names that has come up is AEW star Jon Moxley, who’s previously wrestled Deathmatches for both AEW and GCW. And naturally, people have brought up the likes of Nick Gage and Matt Tremont; two names that would certainly be deserving of a showdown with Foley. While speculation is fun, we are still at the stage of words so far. Though this story will certainly be one to follow as the year continues.

As reported in last week’s edition of This Week in Death, Big Japan Pro-Wrestling/Japanese Deathmatch legends Ryuji Ito & Abdullah Kobayashi will be coming to the United States for GCW’s upcoming return to Atlantic City. It is now confirmed who both men will face in their respective matchups at GCW’s Ashes to Ashes event on March 9th. Firstly, in a Superheavyweight Deathmatch Showdown, Abdullah Kobayashi will be taking on “Killdozer” Matt Tremont; the first time that these two have faced each other one-on-one in over a decade. And for the first time ever, the “Deathmatch Dragon” Ryuji Ito will take on “The King” Nick Gage one-on-one in an International Dream Deathmatch. This event will be part of a wider GCW weekend in Atlantic City on March 9th and 10th. Tickets are available now, and you can follow Game Changer Wrestling on Twitter for updates.

Game Changer Wrestling has announced that Kasey Catal will be making both her return to GCW and Wrestling on March 10th at GCW’s So Much Fun event. This announcement marks Kasey Catal’s first wrestling match in seven months, and her first time stepping into a GCW ring since Tournament of Survival Weekend last year. Already confirmed for Atlantic City is her return opponent, who Kasey is quite familiar with, as Catal will be facing John Wayne Murdoch. This event will be part of a wider GCW weekend in Atlantic City on March 9th and 10th. Tickets are available now, and you can follow Game Changer Wrestling on Twitter for updates.

Amid all the various promotions running across WrestleMania Week, ICW No Holds Barred is bringing some ultraviolence to the lineup with NHB 61. ICW’s Mania Week event, dubbed International Death Summit, will see foreign representatives from five different countries; all the makings of an international incident. Now confirmed for NHB 61, Eric Ryan, representing both the United States and the great state of Ohio, will be taking on Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS’ Yusaku Ito, representing Japan. Tickets for NHB 61: International Death Summit are available now, and you can follow ICW No Holds Barred on Twitter for updates.
